The application of drone agility and remote flight is changing how information can be retrieved and delivered at faster rates; this is something especially needed on farms with acreage.
Utilizing drone technology makes the difference in preventing time and energy loss from slow and laborious manual data collection.
The first component of working with farmers is visiting the site and looking at the topography and features of the land - determining what type of mapping is required and can be acquired. As well as what does the farmer want specifically?
The core service Portent Tide provides Farmers starts with achieving a base map that serves as a reference point for any other type of data - but it is important to know what other data types are needed so to potentially devote more accurate data in the locations of the farm that require it.

Two common types of farm data collection are Multispectral data and LiDAR data.

If the farmer wants plant health to be calculated, a multispectral sensor with NDVI wavelength is vital. In simple terms, the data created from this sensor is used for calculating and detecting stress in plant leaves. The results direct farmers where to apply fertilizer and irrigation
resources.

If there is dense vegetation on site the farm may require a LiDAR sensor that more accurately measures vegetation height and ground contours within this dense vegetation. See our page on forestry and dense vegetation here.

Once the data is collected, each data type is projected into its own data layer and classified. A site map can then additionally be created so that samples can be taken reaching beneath multiple layers of elevation, plant health, area, average vegetation height, plantation date (+more).

Deliverables:
Builds on the Base Package by applying multispectral sensor for plant health and/or LiDAR sensor for Vegetation. Other sensors are available for more varied data upon request

Should a vector site map be desired this can be included - allows for easier sampling of rows/plots in a Geographic Information System
