Taking the aerial perspective into dense vegetation, public forests, private forests and forestry plantations is the key to conveying the environments for their natural and use benefits.

Drone technology is the most vital source of data that provides land management professionals a way to do their job effectively and consistently over time.

The basis of dense vegetation in 2022 is the use of LiDAR technology to produce 3D data in a point cloud format.

LiDAR means light detection and ranging. Simply put, this is a sensor that can be attached to a drone to produce a format of data that displays the land in x, y and z points in three dimensional space. This allows the precise measurements of matter; such as trees, structures and topography to be depicted in a format that is more accurate than mapping with pixelated images. Point cloud LiDAR data is especially useful for dense vegetation/areas where the ground can very rarely be seen from an aerial perspective.

Professionals can use this data to create the most accurate elevation maps in dense vegetation. They can use this for protecting the area from soil erosion by planting new trees and bushes, determining forest health or for creating paths for exercising and tourism.

Deliverables:

Builds on the Base Package by adding LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) data in a point cloud format that forestry and ecology professionals can use to create plans for the vegetation health and products as potential resource.

Should a vector site map be desired for pockets of vegetation this can be included additionally.

  • Base Package +

  • LiDAR Data in a LAS file format with basic LiDAR point cloud animation. LiDAR data classified by height with contours made for digital elevation model derived from the point cloud.

Digital and Analog Delivery

  • Vector Map(s) with key features and land use areas outlined. (This is an additional feature to be requested).
